CHCH News has an immediate opening for a permanent Full-Time Line- Up Editor for Morning Live. 

Yes, this is an overnight position, 1 am to 9 am, but if you’re driven, independent, and want to literally set the news agenda for hundreds of thousands of viewers in Hamilton, Halton and Niagara, this is your opportunity to lead from the front.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Source and write clear, concise, and creative copy for Morning Live’s broadcast and digital platforms
• Source video and other images for those stories to bring them to life
• Line up newscasts in conjunction with the Morning Live producer and anchors
• Work closely with editors, producers, anchors and the control room team to ensure smooth execution of the show
• Work with the Morning Live reporter with their story or stories of the day
• Liaise with the daytime assignment desk each day to ensure a smooth transition of stories requiring follow-up
• Conduct research and interviews
• Develop sources
• Other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:

• At least two years of editorial experience in a broadcast news environment
• Strong writing skills with an eye for visuals and storytelling
• Independence to build the show overnight on your own before other team members begin their shifts
• Deep knowledge of the people and places in Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Brant
• The ability to juggle breaking news and adapt quickly under pressure
• Have familiarity with ENPS (Knowledge of WordPress, Vizrt and Adobe Premiere Pro are assets)
• Tenacity to track down details and sources through traditional and digital means
• A commitment to accuracy and balance

This is a full-time, overnight role, Monday-Friday.
