Morning Live Co-Anchor*

We have an immediate opportunity for a Full-Time Morning Live Co-Anchor*
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Present insightful, accurate and engaging local news and sports stories for broadcast and digital
- Report on local news, features and entertainment and can write on a deadline
- Work closely with the other co-anchor and show producer to develop daily news and help lead the newsroom for a popular now in its 26th year of production
- Commit to regular social media posts about the stories on Morning Live
- Support the coordination and booking of guests
- Develop and maintain contacts
- Work with producers and writers to chase developing stories before, during and after the show
- Write promos/news flashes for broadcast/smart home devices and social media
- File a full package story when required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5 years’ experience as an on-air news anchor/ host in a medium/large television market
- Provide a demo reel showing major-market excellence
- Have an engaging, energetic on-air style suited to morning news audiences
- Be able to engage on air with your co-host and other on-air talent in impromptu discussions
- Have proven ability to lead live breaking news coverage
- Have superior broadcast writing, interpersonal and communication skills
- Have superior organizational skills
- A broadcast journalism diploma/degree or equivalent
- Have deep knowledge of Canadian/International politics, sports, business, national and local news
- A teamwork-focused attitude
- Demonstrably strong spelling and grammar skills
- A keen interest in the local newsmakers and sports leaders in the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara regions
- A working knowledge of ENPS would be an asset
- A working knowledge of VizRT would be an asset
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
- Have a valid passport or nexus card or the ability to obtain
- Be able to work scheduled 3:30am-11:30am shifts, Monday through Friday and readiness to work various shifts as required
