The following is a short list of the primary functions and does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities for this position:
∙ Research and write news copy for digital and broadcast platforms under tight deadlines
∙ Write other content as needed for all platforms
∙ Monitor and post to social media and other news feeds
∙ Monitor live events to stream to our platforms
∙ Monitor wires for stories needed on broadcast or digital platforms
∙ Assist producers, digital lead, reporters and videographers
∙ Producer, Lineup Editor, Reporter and Web Content Creator skills are an important asset for career growth opportunities
∙ Other duties as required
The ideal candidate must:
∙ At least one year of broadcast and/or CP-style news writing experience
∙ Demonstrate strong spelling and grammar skills
∙ Posses a journalism degree or diploma or equivalent education
∙ Be familiar with Wordpress
∙ Be familiar with posting to, and interacting on, social media platforms
∙ Be well organized
∙ A familiarity with ENPS or other such software would be an asset
∙ Must be available to work various shifts, especially evenings, weekends and overnights
∙ Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
∙ Be familiar with the newsmakers and current events of Hamilton, Halton, Niagara, and Brant
