Are you passionate about news? Looking to innovate? Want to work with a talented, hard-working team? We have an immediate opening for the position of a permanent Full-Time Line- Up Editor for Morning Live. This is an overnight position.

CHCH News is a multiplatform organization serving the dynamic and rapidly growing regions of Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Brant. We genuinely care about our community and about working in an environment that allows each of us to bring our best selves to work.

The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions and does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities for this position:

Source and write clear, concise, and creative copy for Morning Live’s broadcast and digital platforms
Source video and other images for those stories
Line up newscasts in conjunction with the Morning Live producer and anchors
Liaise with control room staff to ensure smooth execution of the newscast
Work with the Morning Live reporter with their story or stories of the day
Liaise with the daytime assignment desk each day to ensure a smooth transition of stories requiring follow-up
Conduct research and interviews
Develop sources

The ideal candidate must:

Be a self-starter, able to work on their own during the night and also in a team environment
Have two years of editorial experience in a broadcast news environment
Have familiarity with ENPS
Possess strong writing skills that showcase visual literacy, and an appreciation of the importance of video and pictures in storytelling
Have at least six months of control room experience or similar
Have a demonstrated ability to stay on top of developing stories and adapt to changing conditions
Possess the tenacity to track down sources and information quickly through social and conventional means
Have a commitment to accuracy and balance
Knowledge of WordPress, Vizrt and Adobe Premiere Pro would be an asset
Be familiar with the people and places in Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Brant

This a full-time, overnight position, Monday-Friday.
